Ben Ali’s security chief acquitted in Tunisia

A Tunisian court on Friday acquitted Ali Seriati, the former security chief of ousted president Zine El Abidine Ben Ali, who was charged with forging passports helping Ben Ali and his family to flee.

The same court handed down prison terms of between four months and six years to Seriati’s fellow defendants, 23 members of the extended Ben Ali family, for attempting to flee and for illegal possession of foreign currency.
