Three protesters killed in Syria

Security sources killed three people when the opened fire on demonstrations in eastern and southern Syria on the last Friday of Ramadan, a rights group said.

One person was killed when protesters emerged from a mosque in the flashpoint southern province of Daraa, while the other two were killed in the eastern protest hub of Deir Ezzor, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

Pro-democracy activists had urged rallies under the banner “Friday of patience and determination” in defiance of deadly crackdowns by the regime against dissent that have killed more than 2,200 people since mid-March.
