Egypt’s president to visit Russia on economic mission

Egypt’s President Mohamed Morsi, whose country has been in economic crisis since a 2011 revolution, is to travel to Russia on Thursday for an official visit focused on trade and investments, his spokesman said.

Omar Amer, quoted by state news agency MENA, said Morsi is to meet Russia’s President Vladimir Putin in the city of Sochi for talks on boosting trade and Russian investments in Egypt.

Egypt’s oil, electricity, transportation and foreign ministers are also to travel to Russia for talks with their counterparts, some of them heading directly to Moscow, he said.
