Syria’s Homs blitz kills 13

More than 60 people died in violence across Syria on Thursday, activists said, with the majority killed in a fierce assault by regime forces on the flashpoint central town of Homs.

Rami Abdul Rahman of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said 57 were killed in heavy shelling on Homs, 36 of them in the Baba Amr neighbourhood and 11 when a shell fell on their house in the town’s Inshaat district.

Four other people were killed in the town of Rastan, located in Homs province, he said.
