Saudi Foreign Minister to resume duties after operation

Veteran Saudi Foreign Minister Saud al-Faisal will resume work on Saturday three months after undergoing surgery to remove an obstruction in his intestines, a ministry source said.

“Prince Saud al-Faisal will return to the country on Friday to take up his routine activities,” spokesman Osama al-Nuqli said on Thursday.

“He is in very good health and will resume his normal activities on Saturday,” Nuqli said.

Prince Saud, 72, is one of the world’s longest-serving foreign ministers. He was appointed in 1975, seven months after the assassination of his father, king Faisal.

He has suffered from back problems over the years and has undergone surgery in the United States.
