Dubai set to break world record for fireworks display

Dubai is hoping to break the Guinness World Record for the largest fireworks display, pledging to set off more than 400,000 fireworks. Kuwait set the mark in 2011 with an hour-long blast of 77,282 fireworks (video above).

“The display will include never seen before elements like a 225-metre wide and 130-metre high UAE flag, conjured through fireworks and special effects that will adorn the Dubai sky. The flag will be another world record attempt for the largest pyrotechnic flag ever,” writes Gulf News.

The best places to see the display are the Burj Khalifa, Palm Jumeirah or Dubai Festival City.
