Car bomb kills seven in Shiite area of Baghdad

A car bomb in a market in the predominantly Shiite north Baghdad area of Sadr City killed at least seven people Tuesday evening, security and medical officials said.

The blast, at around 6:30 pm (1530 GMT), and left more than 20 others wounded.

It came amid a week-long militant offensive in which insurgents have seized vast swathes of territory in northern Iraq.
